May 26, 2026, Chisinau - The Ministry of Justice informs that, on the morning of this day, prosecutors from the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office, jointly with officers from the National Anticorruption Center and the General Inspectorate of Police, with the support of the Ministry of Justice, carried out a complex of procedural-criminal actions within a criminal case targeting alleged acts of corruption related to the implementation and enforcement of the amnesty legislation.
The actions were carried out with the support of anti-corruption officers of the Escorts and Special Actions Service, the "Fulger" Special Purpose Police Brigade and the "Pantera" Special Purpose Detachment. Dozens of searches were carried out in several penitentiary institutions, as well as in other locations on the territory of the Republic of Moldova.
According to the data investigated at this stage, the criminal case concerns alleged acts of active and passive corruption committed by persons involved in the process of implementing and applying the amnesty granted on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the proclamation of the independence of the Republic of Moldova, as well as in the application of the provisions of Articles 91 and 92 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Moldova.
The Ministry of Justice emphasizes that state institutions have the obligation to intervene promptly and firmly whenever there are reasonable suspicions of compromising the act of justice, affecting the legality of penalty enforcement procedures, or the abusive use of legal mechanisms intended to serve the public interest.
The competent authorities continue criminal investigation actions to establish all the circumstances of the case, identify all the people involved and fully document any criminal acts.
We reiterate that all procedural actions are carried out in strict compliance with the legal framework and applicable procedural guarantees. At the same time, we specify that any person benefits from the presumption of innocence until a final and irrevocable court decision is rendered.
