Authorities from the justice sector, in dialogue with the EU on progress in implementing reforms in the field of justice, home affairs and human rights.

May 13, 2026, Chisinau – The justice sector authorities participated, between May 11 and 12, in the 10th meeting of the Republic of Moldova - European Union Subcommittee on Justice, Freedom and Security, the dialogue platform within which the justice sector authorities reported on the progress in implementing the European reform agenda in implementing the reform agenda.

 

The meeting discussed developments in the implementation of sectoral reforms, with a focus on advancing the vetting process, streamlining judicial procedures and increasing the efficiency of the justice system.It also addressed priorities of the anti-corruption agenda, including measures taken to strengthen the capacities of law enforcement institutions and increase the efficiency of mechanisms for preventing, investigating and sanctioning acts of corruption, organized crime and money laundering.

 

Discussions also focused on preparation for the application of the new legal framework in the field of personal data protection, as well as the measures adopted to combat terrorism and prevent radicalization - new topics on the agenda of discussions in that format.

 

At the same time, developments in the field of migration management policies and state border management were analyzed, as well as the measures implemented to guarantee fundamental rights.In this context, topics related to freedom of expression and assembly, creating conditions for detention, national policy to combat discrimination and those for ensuring gender equality were addressed.

 

The Republic of Moldova - European Union Subcommittee on Justice, Freedom and Security is a dialogue platform established under the Moldova-EU Association Agreement, signed in 2014, and is held annually.The previous meeting took place in July 2024.
