June 22, 2026, Chisinau – The Minister of Justice signed today the order by which notary Olga Caraiani, who works in the Ceadir-Lunga district, will also provide notarial services for citizens in the Basarabeasca district.The decision was taken in collaboration with the Notarial Chamber and aims to ensure the continuity of notarial services in the district.
The solution comes after the deadline for which another notary had been authorized to serve the Basarabeasca district expired in April of this year.During this time, the Ministry of Justice and the Notarial Chamber have been monitoring the situation and analyzing the appropriate options so that the citizens of Basarabeasca can benefit from notarial services as close to home as possible.
Previously, the Ministry of Justice put out a competition for three vacant notary positions for the Basarabeasca district, but they were not filled, as no applications were submitted.In parallel, temporary solutions were applied, by appointing notaries from nearby districts (the notary from Comrat provided services until 04.04.2026).At the same time, with the support of the local public administration, the space intended for receiving citizens was identified.
The Ministry of Justice will continue to monitor the situation in the district and intervene, together with the Notarial Chamber, to ensure people's access to notarial services.
We emphasize that, following the legislative amendments that entered into force in 2024, the exclusive territorial jurisdiction in matters of succession has been eliminated.Thus, citizens can resort to the services of any notary, regardless of their domicile.The exceptions only concern certain documents related to the archive kept by a specific notary or other situations expressly provided for by law.
