The Ministry of Justice organized today the first meeting of the Monitoring Group for the implementation of the actions provided in the Action Plan of the Strategy on ensuring the independence and integrity of the justice sector for the years 2022-2025, which was adopted at the end of last year.
Present at the event, the Minister of Justice, Mr Sergiu Litvinenco, mentioned that this group is one of the most important elements of the monitoring mechanism of the Strategy. "Its main task is to evaluate every six months the degree of implementation of the Strategy and the Action Plan. The Ministry of Justice, in its capacity of institution responsible for coordinating this process, relies on the full involvement of each entity both in the implementation of their actions under the Plan, and in the process of monitoring their implementation ", underlined Mr Sergiu Litvinenco.
The Secretary of State of the Ministry of Justice, Mrs Veronica Mihailov-Moraru, reiterated that the implementation of the Strategy without a good combination of efforts cannot take place. "The Ministry of Justice is an important component, but without the involvement of all relevant stakeholders it will be more difficult to achieve the set results. The strategy is quite complex and covers several areas, that's why we rely on a productive collaboration and an efficient communication", mentioned Mrs Veronica Mihailov-Moraru.
During the first meeting of the Monitoring Group, the three directions of strategic intervention were briefly presented: the independence, responsibility and integrity of justice actors; access to justice and the quality of justice and the efficient and modern administration of the justice sector.
The members of the Monitoring Group also agreed to meet every six months to present the reports on the implementation of the actions set out in the Strategy’s implementation Plan. Based on the received reports, the Ministry of Justice will prepare a Summary Report, which will be published on the website of the institution, so that citizens could be informed about the implementation of the Strategy.
The Monitoring Group includes representatives of the implementing institutions (SCM, SCP, SCJ, PG, NIJ, NAC, NIA, NCSGLA), the legal professions, but also representatives of civil society.
