Thu, 06/11/2020 - 11:00 -- stisc_admin

Today, June 11, 2020, during the plenary session of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova was voted unanimously, in two readings, the draft law for amending some normative acts on electronic monitoring of family aggressors, developed and promoted by the Ministry of Justice.

Since domestic violence is one of the most serious and widespread criminal phenomena facing contemporary societies, able to harm the rights and human dignity of their members, the Ministry of Justice has developed this draft law in order to strengthen the family institute, to protect to the maximum the victims of domestic violence, as well as to prevent the phenomenon of domestic violence as a whole.

In this regard, the family aggressors will be monitored electronically (with a bracelet installed on their hand or foot), immediately after the judge pronounces the protection order with the application of protection measures.

The draft law also stipulates legal provisions regarding the opportunity for victims and family members of the aggressor to be monitored electronically, through an electronic surveillance system (such as a small GSM phone), only if they express their written consent.
